On Tuesday, 16 December 2025, on the occasion of a round table organised by INSA Toulouse, the National Institute of Applied Sciences of Toulouse, engineering and sports performance were discussed for the benefit of elite athletes.
Let’s look back at three key points from this discussion between Alex Guiral (for Antidote Solutions), Victor Simonin (Groupama-FDJ) and Sebastien Ricciardi (Alten).
1. Data and creativity: opposition or alliance?
At times, it is necessary to challenge conventional wisdom, for example, by designing a more flexible rear assembly to gain efficiency. Alex emphasised the crucial role of creativity when faced with constraints related to weight, strength, and stiffness.
2. The human factor
We work with and for the athlete, and trust is essential. Even the best bicycle in the world is of no use if the athlete does not feel comfortable on it.
3. Career catalysts
Speaking to an audience of students, Alex stressed the importance of networking and boldness as key career drivers: internships, personal projects, and direct messages sent on LinkedIn. Stay curious.
Thank you to INSA Toulouse for the invitation and for the high quality of our discussions.
